This House
Skip Brown/Bill Pekar

This house sits abandoned
The roof is falling in
The windows are all broken
And open to the wind

The paint has long since passed away
The vines climb up the walls
The dust lies thick on everything
But a portrait in the hall

I shine the glass and I polish the frame
Each day when I wake up
Then I get lost in a memory
Holding an empty thought

This house lays in ruins
While the world makes another turn
Leavin just a memory
Of a fire that used to burn

I walk around these vacant rooms
The shadown are all I see
In the house that's been abandoned
To the dust of a memory

There's a picture hangin' on the all
It's the only light that glows
In a house that's dark and empty
On a road where no one goes
